XML Sitemap is contains the list of all URLs to be crawled by Search Engine Spider ( Crawler ). By submitting Sitemaps to a search engine we only help that engine's crawlers to do a better job of crawling their site(s).
Benefits of XML Sitemap:
- Upto 500 URLs can be submitted to search engines with one sitemap.
- Help in crawling Flash files.
- Complement the Robots.txt file.
- Additional information about website can be submitted to search engines such as date of last modification, priority etc.
- You can monitor the website performance in a particular search engine by submitting a XML sitemap and verifying it in webmaster area of that search engine.
